Big NEWS: NZ Travelers will be able to apply for their 10-year passports earlier than expected, with applications proposed to open 30 November 2015.
This announcement came from Peter Dunne, Internal Affairs Minister this week, although still subject to legislation passing in Parliament. Bu, should it all go through then adults will be able to apply for their 10-year ‘Kiwi’ passport at the end of November, which is one month earlier than originally planned!
The proposed cost for a 10-year adult passport price is to be set at $180, including GST. This will bring an average savings of around $90 over the 10-year validity period of an NZ Passport. However, children’s passports will remain valid for five years due to their appearance changing significantly over time, and also as per international convention.
